An earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck off the coast of New Caledonia in the South Pacific Ocean on Wednesday.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the tremor occurred southeast of the Loyalty Islands off the east coast of Caledonia, at a depth of 10 km.
There have been no reports of human or material losses as a result of the earthquake so far.
On June 27, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of New Caledonia, at a depth of 33.1 km.
New Caledonia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.
