Gaza: Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, announced on Monday that it has been unable to deliver any humanitarian aid or supplies to the Gaza Strip since the beginning of this year due to Israeli restrictions.
According to Qatar News Agency, MSF Secretary-General Christopher Lockyear stated in a press release that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank remains dire. He emphasized that the need for humanitarian assistance is substantial and that efforts to provide aid must be increased significantly rather than diminished.
Lockyear highlighted that winter conditions have worsened existing health issues among Palestinians in Gaza, leading to a surge in infectious diseases. He noted that more than 18,000 individuals, including 4,000 children, are currently awaiting medical evacuation.
He also mentioned that despite a ceasefire agreement, fatalities continue to occur in Gaza. The ceasefire, intended to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, was part of an initiative proposed by Donald Trump to resolve the conflict in the region. The agreement, which took effect last October, followed the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from key areas in the Strip and allowed displaced persons to return to northern Gaza.
