Diamond League Announces Participation of Champions in China, Qatar Rounds


Doha: The Diamond League announced the participation of top athletics champions and record holders in the first three rounds of the Diamond League, which will take place in Xiamen and Shanghai (China) and Doha, Qatar.



According to Qatar News Agency, the three rounds are scheduled for April 26, May 3, and May 16. They will feature the world’s best athletes in track races and field events. These rounds will also introduce changes to the prize money awarded to winners, with amounts ranging from a minimum of $30,000 to a maximum of $100,000 for each event in the 15-round league held across 12 countries worldwide.



Among the most prominent participants in the opening rounds in China are Sweden’s Armand Duplantis, the world record holder in the pole vault (6.26m), Norway’s Karsten Warholm, the world record holder in the 400m hurdles (45.94 seconds), and American Grant Holloway, the world and Paris 2024 Olympic champion in the 110m hurdles.



The statement also highlighted that renowned medalists and record holders will be present in the Doha round of the Diamond League, which will feature 14 competitions, including 9 track races and 5 field events. The details of these events will be announced following the two rounds in China.
