Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Qatar Engages in Strategic Talks with Ukraine’s Defense Officials

Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani held a significant meeting with HE Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, and HE Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov, amid their diplomatic visit to Qatar.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions focused on the latest security developments within the region, alongside exploring avenues for enhanced defense cooperation and joint coordination in view of the prevailing geopolitical climate. The dialogue underscored the commitment of both nations to bolster defense ties and address mutual security challenges.

A pivotal outcome of the meeting was the signing of a defense cooperation agreement between the Qatari Ministry of Defense and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. This agreement encompasses technological cooperation, the development of joint projects, defense investments, and the exchange of expertise in missile and drone countermeasures. The agreement was signed by HE Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, and HE Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov, with the presence of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, and HE Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine marking the occasion.
