Moscow: Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev affirmed on Thursday that Russia will continue intensifying its military strikes on Ukrainian targets, including the capital Kyiv, despite the European Union's newly adopted sanctions package.
According to Qatar News Agency, Medvedev stated on his official Telegram account, "The 18th package of sanctions imposed by Europe against our country, like those before it, will not alter Russia's stance. Our economy will demonstrate its resilience, and strikes on targets in Ukraine, including Kyiv, will only grow more intense."
He also emphasized the importance of deepening Russia's disengagement from the European Union, claiming that hostility toward Moscow is no longer confined to countries traditionally seen as adversarial, such as the Baltic states, Poland, and the United Kingdom, but now extends to major European powers including Germany and France.
Medvedev warned that the EU's "slide into a policy of hatred" would ultimately harm Europe itself, leading to further deterioration of its economic and security interests.
Earlier today, the European Union officially adopted its 18th sanctions package against Russia in response to its ongoing military operations in Ukraine. The new measures include tighter restrictions on the oil and energy sectors, the introduction of a price cap on Russian crude oil set at USD 47.60 per barrel, a ban on transactions related to the Nord Stream gas pipeline, and additional sanctions targeting the Russian financial sector.
