Department of Meteorology Warns of Thundery Rain, Strong Wind and High Sea

Doha: Weather, inshore, until 6:00 pm on Thursday will be misty at places and some clouds at first, becoming hazy and cloudy with thundery rain, becoming relatively cold to cold by night, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of thundery rain at noon time associated with poor visibility. Offshore, it will be hazy, and some clouds to cloudy with thundery rain, the report added, warning of thundery rain and poor horizontal visibility, strong wind, and high seas.

According to Qatar News Agency, wind inshore will be southeasterly to northeasterly at a speed of 10 to 18 knots, gusting to 45 knots during thundery rain, shifting to northwesterly 20 to 30 knots by night. Offshore, it will be northeasterly to southeasterly at 08 to 18 knots at first, and then becomes northwesterly 25 to 35/50 knots during thundery rain.

Sea state inshore will be 1 to 4 feet, surging to 5 feet during thundery rain, while offshore will be 2 to 5 feet at first, surging to 11/16 feet during thundery rain. Visibility inshore will be 4 to 8 kilometers, reducing to 1 kilometer or less during thundery rain. Offshore visibility will also be 4 to 9 kilometers, reducing to 1 kilometer or less during thundery rain.
