Doha: The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather warning for tonight, predicting partly cloudy skies with a chance of scattered rain, potentially becoming thundery in the northern areas later. Offshore areas are expected to experience similar conditions, with the possibility of thundery rain accompanied by strong winds and high seas. According to Qatar News Agency, the inshore winds will initially be southeasterly to southwesterly at speeds ranging from 5 to 15 knots, later shifting to northwesterly and reaching speeds of up to 25 knots. Offshore winds will follow a similar pattern, starting at 4 to 14 knots and increasing to 14 to 24 knots from the northwest later in the night. Visibility is forecasted to be between 5 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 3 kilometers or less during periods of thundery rain. The sea state will vary, with inshore waters rising from 1 to 3 feet, surging to 5 feet during thundery conditions. Offshore, the sea state is expected to range from 2 to 5 feet, potentially surging to 10 feet. Residents are advised to be cautious of the changing weather conditions, particularly in the northern areas where thundery rain is more likely.
