Daam Fund Signs Agreement with Katara to Back Al Galayel Championship 2026

Doha: The Social Sport Contribution Fund (Daam) has entered into a funding agreement with the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) to support the 15th edition of the Al Galayel Championship in 2026, marking the fifth consecutive year of sponsorship.

According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement entails Daam's financial contribution to support the championship and provide prizes for winners and participants. This continued support highlights Daam's commitment and the role of joint-stock companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange in fostering cultural activities. It aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, aiming to enhance the nation's cultural heritage in falconry and hunting.

Scheduled from January 22 to February 12, 2026, the championship will unfold at Al Eraiq Reserve in southwest Qatar. It will feature 16 teams of Qatari falconers, each comprising 6 to 9 members divided into 4 groups.

Al Galayel is a renowned Qatari heritage competition, celebrated for its traditional hunting practices rooted in Arab culture. It showcases the prowess of Qatari falconers and is expected to draw significant participation from hunting enthusiasts. Competitors aim to hunt prey such as Gazelles, Houbara, and Karawan, tagged with championship-specific chips, within designated boundaries. Points are awarded for each type of prey, with total prize money exceeding QAR 3,700,000, alongside the prestigious "Al Bayraq" for the top winner.

Since its launch in 2010, Daam has been instrumental in initiating vital projects across social, sport, and cultural domains. The financial contributions from companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange have been pivotal to the Fund, making them key partners in achieving sustainable community development.
