Cypriot Energy and Commerce Minister, Qatar Chamber Discuss Creating Joint Technical Committee to Boost Cooperation

Doha: HE Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus, George Papanastasiou, discussed the establishment of a joint technical committee to boost cooperation between Cypriot and Qatari companies. This proposal was made during a meeting with the Second Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, at Qatar Chamber headquarters, with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Qatar Andreas Nikolaides also in attendance.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing trade and economic relations between Qatar and Cyprus, emphasizing the investment climate in both nations and exploring cooperation opportunities across key sectors. The Cypriot Minister highlighted the potential for collaboration, particularly with the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the chambers of both countries.

Minister Papanastasiou invited Qatari business owners to invest in Cyprus, pointing out opportunities in sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, IT, artificial intelligence, and financial services. He also extended an invitation to Qatari investors to participate in the Investopia Forum, scheduled to take place in Cyprus from June 7-9, which will provide a platform for exploring investment prospects and networking with international business leaders.

The Second Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, affirmed the strong and friendly relations between Qatar and Cyprus, emphasizing the Chamber's commitment to enhancing cooperation between the Qatari and Cypriot private sectors. Al Athba highlighted the importance of fostering partnerships and joint ventures to create mutually beneficial investment projects and trade alliances.

He further emphasized Qatar's attractive investment environment, supported by various incentives, facilities, and exemptions, and noted the growing interest among Qatari investors in exploring promising opportunities in Cyprus.
