Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Inaugurates Riyadh Metro Project.

Riyadh: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, inaugurated on Wednesday the Riyadh Metro Project, one of the major public transport projects in the Kingdom. According to Qatar News Agency, the monumental project, valued at approximately $22.5 billion, features an extensive network comprising six automated metro lines stretching over 176 kilometers, with 60 kilometers of the network underground. The project consists of 85 stations, including four main stations, and deploys 183 trains across the six lines. The Riyadh Metro is designed to operate entirely on renewable energy sources, positioning it as an environmentally sustainable transportation solution for the city. The metro and its accompanying bus network are expected to accommodate 1.7 million passengers daily in its initial operational phase. The system is integrated with a connecting bus service, enhancing accessibility to densely populated areas, and links key locations such as transpor t hubs, universities, government buildings, commercial centers, and hospitals.
