Chinese President Xi Jinping Highlights China-Russia Ties as Pillar of Global Stability

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the role of China-Russia relations as a cornerstone of global stability during his meeting with Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the Russian State Duma, in Beijing on Tuesday. Xi underscored the significance of the bilateral ties amidst a volatile global landscape.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Chinese President described China-Russia relations as the most stable, mature, and strategically important among major-country relations today. He noted that bolstering the development of these relations aligns with the fundamental interests of both nations' peoples and contributes to world peace.

Xi was quoted by China Central Television (CCTV) stating that both nations should continue fostering their traditional friendship, deepen strategic mutual trust, and enhance cooperation across multiple fields. He emphasized working together to safeguard the security and developmental interests of China and Russia.

During the meeting, Volodin briefed President Xi on the outcomes of the 10th meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress of China, which took place in Beijing. Earlier in the day, Volodin also met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
