Cabinet Endorses Ceasefire, Honors Social Work, and Advances Legislative Initiatives

Doha: The regular weekly Cabinet meeting was chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi shared details of the session's proceedings.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet commenced the meeting by welcoming the ceasefire agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. It acknowledged the mediation efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and other countries that contributed to achieving this truce, emphasizing the importance of ceasing hostilities and respecting state sovereignty to ensure regional stability. The Cabinet also highlighted the need to secure maritime routes, facilitate international trade, and uphold international law.

The Cabinet expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of discussions held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with HE President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Tshisekedi and HE Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni during their visits to Doha. These talks aimed at enhancing Qatar's bilateral relations with the two nations and addressing regional and international issues.

Furthermore, the Cabinet lauded HH the Amir for recognizing the winners of the inaugural Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work. This award acknowledges individuals, families, non-profit institutions, and private sector contributions to social work, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030. The Cabinet congratulated the awardees for their community initiatives and commitment to fostering a culture of social work in Qatar.

On the legislative front, the Cabinet approved a draft law on state property, prepared by the Ministry of Municipality, to replace Law No. 10 of 1987. The new law aims to reorganize public and private state properties under a unified legislative framework, enhancing asset management efficiency and aligning with the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030).

Additionally, the Cabinet approved two draft decisions, prepared by the Ministry of Public Health, to adopt a unified health procedures manual at GCC border crossings and manage strategic medical stock. These decisions seek to integrate health procedures across GCC countries, protect public health, and bolster preparedness against health risks.

The Cabinet also agreed on a draft memorandum of understanding for political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Antigua and Barbuda.

The meeting concluded with reviews of three reports, leading to appropriate decisions: the second semi-annual report on the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2030, the outcomes of Qatar's participation in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, and the results from the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour.
