Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi provided a detailed statement.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet extended its highest greetings to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan. They prayed for the occasion to return to His Highness with good health and happiness, and to bring prosperity and growth to Qatar and its people under HH the Amir's wise leadership. The Cabinet also expressed hopes for security, peace, and stability for the Arab and Islamic nations.
The meeting highlighted HH the Amir's honoring of the winners of the Education Excellence Award in its 19th edition and his patronage of the award's ceremony. This initiative reflects HH the Amir's commitment to celebrating education and scientific research as fundamental pillars in Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.
The Cabinet congratulated ministries and government agencies that received the Government Excellence Award in its second edition, commending their exceptional performance. The award has played a significant role in enhancing institutional performance and the quality of government services since its inception.
During the meeting, the Cabinet approved a draft decision to amend the organization of administrative units within the Ministry of Finance. This decision aims to bolster the management of government assets and enhance financial sustainability in alignment with the Third National Development Strategy.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved amendments to Decision No. 36 of 2014, focusing on the National Committee for the Customs Clearance System and trade facilitation across borders. The amendments, prepared by the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the General Authority of Customs, aim to enhance the committee's role and performance standards.
The Cabinet also approved several draft agreements, including one with the United Nations for the World Investment Forum 2026 in Doha, and agreements with Tanzania and Namibia on the elimination of double taxation and prevention of tax avoidance and evasion.
The meeting concluded with the review of four reports, including the annual report on the work of the state affairs sector for 2025, the annual report on Qatar Development Bank's activities for 2025, and reports on economic cooperation with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The Cabinet took appropriate measures based on these reports.
