Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan, where significant decisions regarding national data strategy, traffic legislation, and international agreements were made.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi announced that the Cabinet praised the launch of the national data and statistics strategy. Under the sponsorship of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the strategy was inaugurated by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani. Its aim is to enhance data reliability, build an interconnected national data system, and utilize technology in data operations.
The Cabinet also reviewed and approved a draft legislation issuing the traffic law, which was subsequently referred to the Shura Council. This legislation aligns with the Ministry of Interior's strategy to regulate traffic movement and enhance safety, while considering developments in infrastructure, road usage, and automotive technology.
Additionally, the Cabinet agreed to amend provisions of Decision No. 4 of 2020, concerning the Permanent Committee for Addiction Treatment Affairs. This amendment seeks to reorganize the committee to improve its effectiveness in meeting its objectives.
Further, the Cabinet approved the draft of the Core Contribution Agreement for Unrestricted Financial Resources (2025-2026) between the Qatar Fund for Development and the UNHCR. It also approved draft memoranda of understanding on news cooperation between Qatar News Agency and agencies from Tunisia, Vietnam, and Guinea-Bissau.
The meeting concluded with a review of the annual report from the Standing Committee for Rescue, Relief, and Humanitarian Aid in Afflicted Areas. The Cabinet also discussed the outcomes of Qatar's participation, led by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, in the opening ceremony of Qatar's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.
