British Foreign Secretary David Lammy called on the international community to continue efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
“We must not waver at this critical period to achieve ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, to get more desperately needed aid into Gaza, and secure the release of all hostages,” Lammy said in the foreign office statement.
“The situation is incredibly dangerous and further escalation or miscalculation in the region is in no one’s interests,” he added.
According to the statement, the British Foreign Secretary will embark on a tour of the Middle East, during which he aims to push for an end to the cycle of violence and ensure that escalation and miscalculation are avoided.
Lammy announced in September that his country would immediately suspend 30 export licenses out of 350 with the Israeli entity because there was a risk such equipment might be used to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law.
