Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, on Tuesday received in his office, the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa A. Johnson.
Discussions touched on the security situation along Lebanon’s southern border and the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, in addition to the situation in the Gaza Strip and the efforts led by the United States, along with Egypt and Qatar, to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Minister Bou Habib also discussed with Ambassador Johnson the issue of UNIFIL’s mandate extension.
Bou Habib reiterated Lebanon’s position in adhering to UNIFIL’s mandate extension for another year without introducing any amendments to the resolution expected to be issued by the Security Council.
Minister Bou Habib also met with Head of Mission of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon, Minister Plenipotentiary, Abdullah Suleiman Al-Shaheen.
Talks touched on the situation in southern Lebanon and the broad region, as well as on the ongoing efforts to calm the sit
uation.
Both sides underlined the depth and strength of the fraternal relations between the two countries and the brotherly peoples, stressing the importance of further strengthening and enhancing these ties at various levels.
