Bassil to the Lebanese: For confronting the “status quo” within the framework of the constitution and laws

The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, called on the Lebanese in general and Christians in particular to “confront the current reality within the framework of the constitution and laws,” adding that “the situation can no longer tolerate further waiting, and action has become inevitable.”

Bassil recalled that FPM had presented several months ago, during the Bkirki Document meetings, a written working paper entitled “Resilience and Partnership”, proposing a plan to confront the situation with practical and field measures to break the existing status quo. He said the plan includes media, political, parliamentary, judicial, popular, and economic steps, at the level of the public and private sectors, and also at the level of the church and secularists, far-reaching a popular and civil escalation with a comprehensive boycott in wake of a no response.

“Today, with the stagnation continuing, the failure to elect a president, a government that is acting arbitrarily without a charter or legitimacy
, a collapsing economy, a migrating people, and the increasing danger of open war, and without reproach for the past…let us go to the confrontation within the constitution and laws and most importantly within the duty to protect existence because the dangers threaten our existence and the existence of Lebanon,” Bassil underlined.
