Manama: King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain engaged in discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi concerning regional developments and their impact on security and stability, as well as ongoing Iranian attacks targeting countries in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, both leaders confirmed that the Iranian attacks represent a breach of state sovereignty and international laws and norms, posing a threat to international peace and security. They highlighted the critical importance of halting Iran's threats to disrupt navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a key international passage for energy transport and global trade, which violate international law and the law of the sea. The leaders agreed that protecting maritime routes is a shared international responsibility that demands cooperation from countries in the region and across the globe.
The discussions also underscored the provisions of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. This resolution condemned and called for the immediate cessation of all Iranian attacks against Gulf Arab states and Jordan, demanding an immediate and unconditional halt to any provocations or threats against neighboring countries.
