Bahrain FM Discusses Regional Tensions with Pakistan and China Counterparts

Bahrain: Bahrain’s foreign minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani held separate phone calls on Monday with his Pakistani and Chinese counterparts to discuss the escalating situation in the region and continued Iranian attacks on Bahrain and other Gulf states.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the call with Pakistan’s foreign minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the two sides discussed diplomatic coordination between Bahrain and Pakistan in international forums, particularly the United Nations Security Council, where both countries currently hold seats. They also reviewed regional developments and the missile attacks that Bahrain and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council have faced, which Bahraini officials say have caused further casualties and damage to property.

Al Zayani also spoke with China’s foreign minister Wang Yi about the broader regional situation and the attacks targeting Bahrain. Wang reiterated China’s solidarity with Bahrain following the missile strikes and expressed Beijing’s firm rejection of armed attacks against the country. He stressed that China supports respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, the protection of international navigation, and avoiding escalation into a wider conflict. Wang added that the priority should be an immediate halt to military operations and a return to dialogue and negotiations.
