Awqaf Ministry Inaugurates Capacious Mosque in Wadi Al Sail for 765 Worshippers

Wadi al sail: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has inaugurated the Al-Walida Sari'a Saeed Ahmad Al Kuwari Mosque in Wadi Al Sail, accommodating 765 worshippers of both genders on a capacious plot of 3,075 sq m.

According to Qatar News Agency, the mosque has been endowed by Nasser bin Jabr bin Sultan bin Tawar Al Kuwari. This inauguration is part of the ministry's broader initiative aimed at expanding and advancing mosques throughout the nation, in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030, to accommodate urban and population growth.

The mosque features a main prayer hall that can accommodate 620 worshippers and a separate hall for women, which accommodates 145 individuals. Additionally, it includes a spacious ablution area and numerous public parking lots, some designated for persons with disabilities. The design of the mosque includes meticulously organized entries and exits and is topped with a tall minaret.

The Awqaf's Department of Engineering Affairs is responsible for meeting the state's needs regarding mosques and prayer rooms, as well as equipping temporary mosques and overseeing their maintenance. The department also prepares annual plans for mosque maintenance to ensure the repair of mosques and the residences of imams, working closely with the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, the department is involved in preparing and executing construction operations, overseeing under-construction projects, and managing waqf-owned residences for imams in terms of design, technical, and engineering specifications. It also maintains a comprehensive database of mosques, prayer rooms, and their operators.
