Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance, has initiated the third "Asaneed" Program for 2025-2026. This program aims to enhance the Qur'an recitation performance of Imams and Muezzins.
According to Qatar News Agency, the program was launched in collaboration with the Mosques Department and includes participation from 50 Imams and Muezzins. It focuses on implementing enhanced recitations of the Holy Qur'an according to the narration of Hafs 'an 'Asim, maintaining an uninterrupted chain of transmission back to the Prophet Muhammad.
This initiative is part of Awqaf's efforts to promote precise recitation of the Holy Qur'an in accordance with established rules recognized by scholars of Qur'anic performance. The program is designed to assist participants in achieving precision readings based on the transmission chain, thereby improving their recitation performance.
The third edition of the program aims to equip Imams and Muezzins with the necessary skills to adhere to correct recitation rules, enhancing their roles and performance in mosques. On November 24, 2025, registration for the program commenced, lasting one week. Approximately 600 Imams and Muezzins from various regions registered and underwent testing at Hamad bin Nasser Al Misned Mosque in Hazm Al Markhiya from December 7 to 11, 2025. The evaluation was based on accredited scientific standards, focusing on recitation integrity and memorization.
Testing results led to the selection of the top 50 Imams for the six-month program, which is scheduled to conclude on June 11, 2026. The Department selected 10 qualified individuals with recognized competence to lead the recitation sessions, all of whom are certified in Qur'anic readings. They were distributed across various geographical regions to ensure regular attendance and efficient execution of the program.
The continuation of the "Asaneed" Program highlights its success in achieving its objectives, supporting the ministry's efforts to invest in human talent and promote mosques. It aims to ensure the ubiquitous recitation of the Holy Qur'an within communities, adhering to the highest scientific and educational standards.
