Awqaf and Qatar University to Host Two Global Conferences in October 2025

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs and Qatar University (QU) are poised to organize two global conferences in early October 2025.

According to Qatar News Agency, the first conference will focus on the relationship between the Holy Quran and human knowledge, operating under the guiding principle that the Quran leads to what is most upright. The second conference will delve into the contributions of the Book of the Ummah series across various cultural and intellectual domains, representing a continued partnership between Awqaf and QU.

The first conference, titled “The Holy Quran and Human Knowledge: Towards a Mature Human Understanding,” will bring together over 18 researchers from across the Islamic world. The aim is to reestablish the Holy Quran as central to shaping contemporary human and social knowledge, bridging the gap between religious sciences and social and human sciences.

This conference seeks to attract Muslim scholars from diverse disciplines worldwide, encouraging them to extract Quranic meanings and integrate them into the framework of contemporary human knowledge. The event aims to connect these researchers with divine revelation, utilizing these insights to examine social and human phenomena through a religious lens, while also incorporating perspectives from social and human sciences to enhance research in Sharia sciences.

As the first in an annual series on the Quran and human knowledge, the conference will explore the Quran’s impact on four key knowledge fields: educational, social, psychological, and economic. Its primary objective is to inspire scholars of religious, social, and human sciences to systematically engage with human knowledge and utilize it effectively.

The second conference, the First Book of the Ummah Forum, is themed “Book of the Ummah: Enlightened Contributions and Renewed Generosity.” Initiated by the Department of Islamic Research and Studies, this forum aims to advance Islamic cultural awareness, highlight the responsibilities of Muslims, address contemporary challenges, and offer guidance on leveraging opportunities these challenges present.

This strategic cultural project, spanning over four decades, will highlight the cultural heritage of the Book of the Ummah series, aiming to revive and extend its legacy. It will critically examine the series’ output, methodology, and approaches to contemporary issues, drawing lessons for practical application and insight.

The forum will present eight working papers exploring new cultural foundations to strengthen a balanced and resilient contemporary Muslim identity, considering Islamic values and modern dynamics. It emphasizes continuity, effectiveness, and the development of individuals capable of harnessing their spiritual, intellectual, and material capacities.

The forum’s significance lies in the perspectives, insights, and outcomes it offers to contemporary Muslims, reflecting the distinctive impact of the Book of the Ummah series across the Islamic cultural landscape, influencing diverse schools of thought and leaving a lasting legacy in intellectual and public spheres.
