Jakarta: At least 303 people died as a result of floods that hit the country this week, Indonesian authorities have announced. The country's National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) reported extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads and communication lines, as well as significant disruptions to daily life.
According to Qatar News Agency, relief efforts are underway with aid and supplies being delivered by relief aircraft to the affected regions. In a press conference, Suharyanto, the Head of BNPB, detailed the fatalities, confirming that 166 people were killed in North Sumatra, 47 in Aceh, and 90 in West Sumatra due to the floods. The situation remains critical as authorities work to manage the disaster's aftermath and provide necessary assistance to those impacted.
