President of the Qatar Handball Association (QHA) Ahmed Mohammed Al Shaabi praised the efforts of the team’s players in the 19th Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China, and lasts until Oct. 8.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Shaabi said that team Qatar’s qualification to the semi-finals of the competition means the real beginning of the challenge as the competition intensifies between the teams to reach the medaling podium.
He added that the team have presented distinguished performances since the beginning as they won over South Korea, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, China, and Japan. He pointed out that they deserved to reach the semi-finals, which was expected based on the players’ capabilities and the good preparation for the tournament.
QHA President stressed that the path to the medaling podium always requires preparing with complete confidence for strong matches against any team. He pointed out that team Qatar only eye their goal, respect their competitors, and play their matches with all seriousness, so they outperformed strong teams in the last stage, such as South Korea, Japan, and even China, the home team.
Concluding his remarks to QNA, Al Shaabi stressed the need to double the efforts to win in the semi-finals against Kuwait and reach the finals in their quest for the title. He expressed his confidence in the players’ capabilities and their technical team under Valero Rivera to repeat their achievements in the past editions, South Korea 2014 and Indonesia 2018. (QNA)
