Yesterday, the town of Baysour-Aley witnessed the finalizing of the reconciliation between the Malaeb and Aridi families following a conflict that had lasted since 2017, which began with the death of Makram Malaeb as a result of a dispute. Since Makram was an inspector in the Lebanese General Security, the then-Director General of the Lebanese General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, intervened and visited Baysour several times to resolve and contain the conflict. He followed the case with the competent judiciary and the region's leaders, foremost among them former minister Ghazi Aridi. Thanks to the efforts of General Ibrahim and Aridi, reconciliation was reached, which was crowned in a grand celebration in Baysour attended by Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, head of the Progressive Socialist Party Taymour Jumblatt, and head of the Lebanese Democratic Party Talal Arslan. Former minister Ghazi Aridi appreciated the efforts of General Abbas Ibrahim in the reconciliation that took place, Friday, in Baysour in a massive celebration attended by Druze leader Walid Jumblatt and the region's leaders. Aridi said: "Let us not forget the effort of a man who was in a position of responsibility and is still in another position fulfilling his duty with integrity. The late Makram was from the General Security family. Thank you, General Abbas Ibrahim. You are among us as a dear and esteemed brother who played a crucial role in helping us manage the situation from its beginning, and you handled this case from your position of responsibility as one of us. On behalf of our town, we say to you, with loyalty: thank you, thank you, thank you." Source: National News Agency - Lebanon
