Arab League Warns of Genocide in Gaza Aiming to Liquidate Palestinian Cause

Cairo: The Arab League warned that the war of genocide waged by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip aims to undermine and liquidate the entire Palestinian cause and goes beyond killing and taking revenge on a defenseless people.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a speech delivered during the opening of the 164th regular session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that the occupation aims to eliminate the Palestinian state project not only in the Gaza Strip, but also in the West Bank and Jerusalem by forcibly displacing the people and seizing and confiscating land through illegal and illegitimate annexation.

Aboul Gheit stated that the vision presented by the occupation leaders for the future of this region places it in the throes of destructive religious wars, endless violence, and hatred that destroys all hopes for peace, stability, and coexistence.

He pointed out that the Arabs are not alone in this struggle, as they are joined by nearly 150 countries that recognize Palestine. There are also friendly countries that have recently realized the danger of the Israeli plan and have decided to recognize the Palestinian state at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in a few days.

In this context, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States noted his rejection of the recent US decision to deny visas to the Palestinian delegation to attend this session, considering it a clear violation of the requirements of international law and Washington’s obligations under the Headquarters Agreement.

Regarding the Sudanese issue, the Secretary-General welcomed the formation of a civilian government headed by Kamel Idris, expressing his hope that the appointment of this government will represent a step towards strengthening Sudanese state institutions and preserving their capabilities.

On the situation in Lebanon, Aboul Gheit remarked that Lebanon stands at a significant crossroads in its contemporary history, as its government has taken a decisive decision to implement the monopoly of arms control by the state, which is one of the first and most important requirements of a modern state.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League also reiterated his rejection of repeated Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and the cessation of hostilities agreement signed last November, calling on the US mediator to put an end to these violations and achieve a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories.
