Arab League Urges Immediate Action for Palestinian Refugee Rights

Doha: The Arab League reiterated Thursday the urgent need to end the prolonged suffering of displaced Palestinian refugees and to safeguard their inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination, return to their homeland, and compensation in accordance with international resolutions, particularly UN General Assembly Resolution 194 of 1948.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement marking Arab Expatriate Day, observed annually on December 4, the League's General Secretariat praised the efforts of numerous countries that supported peace, called for an end to hostilities, and recognized the State of Palestine during the UN General Assembly sessions in September 2025.

The statement also commended the unwavering solidarity of Arab expatriates worldwide, especially in light of the ongoing challenges facing the Arab region, citing their vocal condemnation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza over the past two years.

The statement emphasized the global celebration of the achievements of Arab expatriates, whose contributions across political, economic, scientific, cultural, sports, and artistic fields reflect the richness of Arab civilization and its openness to other cultures.

The League urged governments, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and diaspora communities to launch initiatives that channel their expertise back to their countries of origin.

The Arab League reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and replicating such initiatives across the Arab world, pledging to spotlight and support these successful models as part of its broader mission.
