Arab League to Host Tripartite Mechanism-UNRWA Meeting to Address Catastrophic Situation in Gaza

Cairo: The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States will host tomorrow, Wednesday, a joint meeting at its headquarters in Cairo between the Tripartite Coordination Mechanism - comprising the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and African Union - and United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in Near East (UNRWA).

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting will address worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza Strip and the operational and financial challenges facing UNRWA in occupied Palestinian territories. These challenges come amid ongoing Israeli efforts to dismantle the agency and terminate its presence, particularly in Gaza and Jerusalem.

The statement added that the meeting will emphasize the importance of forming a unified stance and outlining a collective course of action to confront these dire conditions, in light of the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people - especially in Gaza - which is enduring a savage war of destruction and genocide. The assault includes systematic devastation, deliberate mass killings, use of starvation as a weapon of war, and imposition of a total blockade to prevent the delivery of basic humanitarian supplies. The statement also highlighted establishment of so-called 'humanitarian centers,' which become sites of death for starving civilians, targeted as they attempt - under humiliating and degrading conditions - to obtain meager amounts of food, in blatant violation of human rights and human dignity.
