Cairo: The League of Arab States affirmed on Sunday that education remains the cornerstone of building societies, driving national progress, shaping awareness, and unleashing potential, while empowering generations to meet current challenges and build a better future.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a speech delivered at the League’s headquarters during a ceremony marking the International Day of Education, Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that education is not merely the transfer of knowledge, but an investment in the human being, one that opens doors to creativity and enables individuals to contribute meaningfully to their nations and to humanity as a whole.
Aboul Gheit emphasized that the League of Arab States regards education and scientific research as core priorities and remains firmly committed to supporting and adopting pioneering initiatives that advance education and help build a globally competitive Arab generation rooted in its values and identity.
He further noted that the highest-yielding investment is that made in the minds and creative potential of young people, as they represent the true wealth of the Arab world. Supporting and empowering them, he said, strengthens their role in driving comprehensive and sustainable development.
