Arab League Schedules Urgent Meeting on Jerusalem Tensions and Prisoner Bill

Rafah: The General Secretariat of the Arab League: announced on Tuesday an extraordinary session of the Council at the level of Permanent Representatives to be held on Thursday. This session aims to address the ongoing escalation by Israel in occupied Jerusalem.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting will also focus on the Knesset's recent approval of a motion that legalizes the execution of prisoners. This session was requested by the State of Palestine, seeking to explore measures to counteract Israeli actions and violations in occupied Jerusalem, particularly concerning its Islamic and Christian sites.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, stated that the meeting will condemn the Israeli bill as both racist and invalid. Regional and international organizations have criticized the bill, labeling it a severe breach of international prisoner laws and conventions, and have demanded its immediate revocation.
