Beirut: The Arab League has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which have resulted in a significant number of civilian casualties and injuries. The organization has labeled these actions as a clear violation of international laws and accused Israel of trying to disrupt the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Arab League's Secretary General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stated that while global efforts are underway to de-escalate the conflict and seek a sustainable resolution, Israel's actions are counterproductive and hinder progress towards peace in the region. In a statement released on Wednesday, Aboul Gheit emphasized that Israel's approach is a deliberate attempt to destabilize the situation further.
He highlighted that Israel's continuous aggressive actions through Lebanon are not only detrimental to regional stability but also jeopardize any international attempts to restore peace and security. The Secretary General called for the international community, particularly influential nations, to exert pressure on Israel to cease its attacks and comply with international resolutions.
Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the Arab League's solidarity with Lebanon, urging for immediate action to halt the violence and support Lebanon in overcoming the current crisis. He referenced the Arab League Council's declaration from March 29, which calls for an end to the hostilities and underscores the need for international intervention to ensure peace in the region.
