Arab, Islamic States Condemn Israel’s Appointment of Diplomatic Envoy to So-Called “Somaliland”

Ankara: The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Bangladesh, Algeria, Palestine, Turkiye, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Mauritania have strongly condemned Israel's appointment of a diplomatic envoy to the so-called Somaliland, deeming it a blatant violation of Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

According to Qatar News Agency, in their joint statement, the ministers reiterated their categorical rejection of all unilateral actions that infringe upon the unity or sovereignty of states, emphasizing their unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia, and their support for the legitimate Somali state institutions as the sole representatives of the will of the Somali people.

The ministers also stressed that such actions are a clear violation of the principles of international law, the United Nations Charter and the Constitutive Act of the African Union, and represent a dangerous precedent that could undermine stability in the Horn of Africa region, negatively impacting regional peace and security in general.
