Angola Welcomes Qatar’s New Ambassador as Doha Engages in Diverse Diplomatic and Economic Activities


Doha: HE President of the Republic of Angola Joao Lourenco has received the credentials of HE Mubarak bin Nasser Al Khalifa, marking his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Angola in a non-resident capacity.



According to Qatar News Agency, the diplomatic engagement highlights the strengthening ties between Qatar and Angola, as both nations look forward to enhanced bilateral relations.



In another development, the Government Communications Office (GCO) of Qatar has announced a strategic partnership with Fanatics, a leading global digital sports platform, aiming to bolster Qatar’s presence in the sports digital space. Meanwhile, HE Abdul Hamid Mohammed Al Dbeiba, Head of the Government of National Unity of Libya, concluded his official visit to Doha, signifying continued diplomatic dialogue between the two states.



Qatar also hosted the sixth round of political consultations with Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the countries’ commitment to deepening their diplomatic ties. The Shura Council of Qatar actively participated in regional parliamentary meetings, including the 9th Gulf-European Parliamentary Committee in Abu Dhabi and the Arab Parliament session in Cairo.



The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center recently saw the conclusion of the second edition of Web Summit Qatar, a significant tech event that reaffirmed its international importance after a successful four-day run. Concurrently, the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) and the German Mittelstand GCC Office signed an MoU to drive investments and foster economic diversification in key sectors.



Qatar’s commitment to innovation was further highlighted by the QRDI Council’s launch of a Small Business Innovation Grant for startups at the Web Summit 2025. Additionally, the Council signed MoUs with the Ministry of Labor and ITQAN Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center to boost collaborative efforts in research and innovation.



In cultural news, the Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced the selection of five film luminaries as Qumra Masters for its eleventh annual industry event. The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara inaugurated the 10th Mahaseel Festival and signed a cooperation agreement with the National Archives of Qatar to enhance historical documentation efforts.



The Ministry of Interior (MoI) of Qatar was recognized with the Global Innovation Institute (GInI) Award 2025 for excellence in public sector innovation. At the Qatar Web Summit 2025, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) entered into strategic agreements with Microsoft Qatar, Alchemist Accelerator, and Builder.ai to support digital transformation initiatives.



Furthermore, Malomatia’s strategic projects continue to drive digital transformation in Qatar, while Qatar University’s College of Sport Sciences is setting new benchmarks in sports education. Dreama Orphan Care Center, in partnership with Nama Social Development Center, launched the ‘Tamkeen Juniors’ program to teach children financial management skills.



Lastly, HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, met with Nenad Lalovic, President of United World Wrestling, underscoring Qatar’s active involvement in international sports organizations.
