Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit at the Sheraton Doha Hotel. The summit convened with the participation of Arab and Islamic leaders, heads of state, and senior officials.
According to Qatar News Agency, the summit was organized in response to the recent Israeli attack on Doha on September 9, which targeted the residences of Hamas’ negotiating team. The event highlighted a unified stance by Arab and Islamic nations against the aggression. HH the Amir described the summit as a clear message confronting Israel’s state terrorism against the region.
On the sidelines of the summit, HH the Amir engaged in a series of meetings with international leaders, including the Presidents of the Maldives, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Egypt, Iran, Somalia, Syria, Turkiye, and Pakistan. These discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing pressing regional and international issues, particularly the Israeli attack.
The summit also saw HH the Amir, alongside HM King Abdullah II of Jordan and HE President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, participating in a video call with leaders from France, the United Kingdom, and Canada to discuss the situation.
HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani delivered the closing remarks on behalf of HH the Amir, emphasizing the need for a united front against the Israeli aggression. The summit was marked by strong statements from various leaders, underscoring solidarity with Qatar and condemning the Israeli attack as a violation of international law and an affront to mediation efforts.
Several leaders, including the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League Secretary-General, expressed their support for Qatar. They called for a firm stance against the Israeli actions, highlighting the importance of upholding international law and principles of peace and dialogue.
The summit concluded with a reaffirmation of the support for Qatar from the attending nations, emphasizing the significance of collective security and the need for continued cooperation among Arab and Islamic states to address such threats.
