Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held significant diplomatic engagements at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday. He met with HE Abdul Hamid Mohammed Al Dbeiba, the Head of the Government of National Unity of Libya, and HE Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, each leading delegations to Qatar.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings underscored Qatar’s active role in fostering international relations and dialogue. The visit of the Libyan delegation coincided with their efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and explore collaborative opportunities with Qatar. Concurrently, the discussions with the Russian delegation, led by Sergey Lavrov, were part of ongoing diplomatic conversations aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation between Qatar and the Russian Federation.
In parallel developments, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan. On the agenda were discussions on domestic policies and international engagements, including a written message from HE Prime Minister of Guyana Mark Phillips, which focused on bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister also met with several visiting officials, including the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El Khereiji, and the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. These meetings emphasized Qatar’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, presided over the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement between KAHRAMAA and QEWC, indicating Qatar’s ongoing efforts in energy sector collaborations. Additionally, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, highlighted the significance of Qatar Environment Day in promoting sustainability.
Cultural ties were also a focus on Wednesday, with the inauguration of the Iranian Cultural Week in Qatar by HE Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani and his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Seyed Abbas Salehi. The event at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal aims to foster cultural exchange and cooperation.
Qatar’s international presence was further demonstrated by participation in the Paris International Agricultural Show and the Universal Postal Union’s sessions in Switzerland, showcasing the country’s active role on the global stage.
