Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a session of official talks with HE President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday. The talks marked the first state visit by a US President to Qatar, a significant event welcomed by HH the Amir who expressed delight over the historic occasion.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting's agenda covered a range of topics including investment, energy, and military and security cooperation. Both leaders emphasized the importance of establishing peace in the region. HH the Amir praised President Trump as a man of peace, voicing hopes that their shared goals would be realized. HH the Amir also expressed his satisfaction that the United States will host the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the 2028 Olympic Games, highlighting the existing cooperation between the two nations in this area.
HE President Trump extended his sincere thanks to HH the Amir for the warm welcome and hospitality. He affirmed the deep, long-standing friendship with HH the Amir and expressed aspirations for further cooperation to establish peace both regionally and globally. The talks explored boosting strategic cooperation in fields such as defense, economy, investment, energy, education, and cybersecurity, along with efforts to enhance international peace and security.
The session was attended by key Qatari officials, including HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. On the US side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth were among the attendees.
The two leaders also held a one-on-one discussion on bilateral relations and regional and international developments, focusing on joint efforts to promote peace and stability. The US President received an official reception, including a 21-gun salute and an Ardha dance performance, symbolizing Qatari heritage.
