Algiers: Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune Thursday terminated the duties of Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui and appointed Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Sifi Ghrieb, as his replacement.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the Algerian Presidency announced that the President issued a presidential decree ending Larbaoui's tenure and appointing Sifi Ghrieb as Acting Prime Minister.
The statement noted that this change falls within the President's constitutional powers and reflects his assessment of the government's performance.
Larbaoui, who was appointed to the Algerian government in November 2023, previously served as Algeria's representative to the United Nations before being recalled to assume the position of Director of the Presidential Office, and was later appointed Prime Minister.
