Albania Heads to Polls in Key Parliamentary Vote

Tirana: Voters in Albania headed to the polls on Sunday to cast their ballots in parliamentary elections, where Prime Minister Edi Rama is seeking an unprecedented fourth term, following a campaign focused on accelerating the country's path to European Union membership.

According to Qatar News Agency, polling stations opened at 7 a.m. local time and are set to close at 7 p.m. Official results are expected to be announced on Monday.

Opinion polls suggest that Rama, who has served as prime minister since 2013 and leads the Socialist Party, is the frontrunner against his long-time rival, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, the leader of the Democratic Party.
