Tilburg: Al-Shamal SC's first football squad wrapped up its overseas preseason camp in the Dutch city of Tilburg as part of their meticulous preparations for the forthcoming 2025-2026 season.
According to Qatar News Agency, in the ultimate warm-up encounter of their camp, Al-Shamal succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against the Dutch side Telstar FC. The contest unfolded at a moderate tempo, with both teams alternating control and dictating phases of play.
Under the stewardship of Spanish head coach David Brats, the coaching staff intended to rotate extensively, deploying the majority of the squad present at the camp to thoroughly evaluate individual performances. The squad now returns to Doha to intensify preparations ahead of the season kickoff slated for Aug. 14.
Al-Shamal featured in four preseason friendlies during their training camp in the Netherlands, facing off against UAE side Al-Wasl and Dutch clubs Dongen, Leerdam, and Telstar, each matchup serving as a strategic assessment of form and squad depth.
The club is slated to kick off its 2025-2026 Qatar Stars League campaign on Aug. 14 with a season-opening clash against Al-Ahli SC at Khalifa International Stadium as part of first-round league action. Having earned 32 points in the past season, Al-Shamal aspires to break into the upper ranks and deliver stronger results in the upcoming campaign, buoyed by squad reinforcements secured during the current summer transfer window.
