Al Sadd and Qatar SC Reach Quarterfinals in HH the Amir Volleyball Cup

Doha: Al Sadd and Qatar SC have successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the HH the Amir Volleyball Cup for the 2025-2026 season. Both teams secured their spots following decisive victories in the second round of their respective groups in the qualifying stage.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Sadd confirmed their position in the quarterfinals by defeating Al Ahli with a 3-0 victory in the second round of Group B. The match concluded with set scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-22. Al Sadd had previously won against Al Shamal, also with a 3-0 scoreline in the first round, ensuring their top position in Group B and one of the two quarterfinal spots from the group. The second qualifying spot from Group B will be determined by the upcoming match between Al Shamal and Al Ahli.

Qatar SC's qualification came after their 3-0 triumph over Al Gharafa in the second round of Group A, with set scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-23. Earlier, Al Gharafa had emerged victorious against Al Khor with a 3-1 win, obtaining set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 19-25, and 29-27. This placed Qatar SC at the top of Group A with 3 points from one match, surpassing Al Gharafa, which also had 3 points but played two matches, based on set difference.

The upcoming match between Qatar SC and Al Khor will finalize the second qualifying team from Group A. Qatar SC's qualification is assured irrespective of the outcome of this match, while Al Khor needs a 3-0 or 3-1 victory to claim the second spot. A 3-2 win or any other result would favor Al Gharafa in advancing.

The qualifying stage is structured in a round-robin format within each group, featuring three rounds. The top two teams from each group will move forward to the quarterfinals, joining the top four teams from the league championship: Al Arabi, Al Wakrah, Al Shorta, and Al Rayyan. The conclusion of the qualifiers is set for tomorrow with matches between Al Ahli and Al Shamal, as well as Qatar and Al Khor.
