Doha: Al-Raya highlighted in its Saturday editorial the State of Qatar’s efforts to advance the educational process through a gradual approach that includes developing education policies, curriculums, and digital infrastructure to ensure the provision of modern education capable of keeping pace with global transformations, particularly in the fields of technology and innovation.
According to Qatar News Agency, these efforts stem from a firm conviction that investment in education represents the fundamental pillar for building a productive and creative individual who can engage actively with the tools of the digital age to contribute to the development process. The editorial noted that during 2025, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education continued to implement its strategic plans aimed at building a modern education system that enhances the quality of educational outcomes and directly links education to labor market needs and the requirements of a knowledge-based national economy, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The development path focused on integrating modern educational technologies, expanding e-learning, and employing smart platforms that enhance students’ digital skills and support advanced teaching methods. This was accompanied by efforts to align education policies with the country’s vital sectors through curriculum development, expansion of applied and technical education, and strengthening partnerships with higher education institutions and the public and private sectors.
Al-Raya affirmed that the educational and pedagogical process receives the highest level of attention from the State of Qatar, as it represents the true foundation of national progress. Preparing future generations and equipping them with knowledge, sound education, and values is not limited to the role of the family alone, but also extends to schools and educational institutions.
In this context, the newspaper noted that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education continues to bolster an education system capable of keeping pace with global developments to prepare a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to building a prosperous, innovation-based national economy, with a strong focus on integrating technology and developing digital skills.
The editorial highlighted that the number of students in pre-university education has reached approximately 365,000 students, while more than 36,000 teachers and administrators are working in the education sector. As for infrastructure, the paper pointed out that the Ministry’s efforts continue to focus on building new schools for the 2025-2026 academic year with modern standards that support digital transformation and provide safe and sustainable learning environments.
Al-Raya added that Qatar’s education system includes a wide network of 653 public and private schools and kindergartens, providing inclusive education for all, including students with disabilities, through 98 inclusive schools and seven specialized schools. The country also hosts 33 higher education institutions offering 478 diverse academic programs.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by emphasizing the importance of investing in national talent, noting that 2025 witnessed the graduation of around 300 teachers from the Tomooh program, in addition to the recruitment of between 400 and 500 qualified teachers to public schools, along with the development of incentives and training programs aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the teaching profession.
