Al-Raya Highlights Historical Qatari-UK Ties in Saturday Editorial

Doha: Al Raya highlighted in its editorial today the depth of Qatari-UK relations, affirming that the strategic cooperation between Doha and London is not a recent development, but rather an extension of long decades of friendship and historical alliances, which have witnessed rapid progress in recent years.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Raya's editorial dealt with the second meeting of the Qatari-UK Strategic Dialogue, which will be hosted in Doha tomorrow under the chairmanship of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

The newspaper said that the convening of the second Qatari-UK Strategic Dialogue represents an important step in the course of deepening bilateral cooperation, reflecting the growing importance both countries attach to their partnership.

Al Raya said that this dialogue session comes after the two sides agreed on several pathways that would deepen the partnership, most notably enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, jointly addressing global challenges, driving mutual growth and technological innovation, transitioning to a sustainable green economy, expanding cooperation in life sciences and creative industries, as well as developing relations in the cultural field.

The newspaper noted that Qatar and the United Kingdom are in a state of constant consultation and coordination, which has enabled them to deal with regional and international challenges in a harmonious and effective manner.

Al Raya also pointed out the main points placed on the table for the strategic dialogue, namely: future prosperity, a secure future, a fairer future, and future ties between the two peoples, with eight working groups operating under these pillars. These groups will address areas including: defense, security and counterterrorism, commerce and investment, science, technology and innovation, development, mediation, culture and education, heritage, and health.

Al Raya affirmed that the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom place great reliance on this strategic partnership to invest in available opportunities across various sectors, and to expand the horizons of cooperation towards new fields that enhance the integration of bilateral relations.

The paper stressed the importance of the existing Qatari-UK partnerships in multiple fields, whether economic, educational, cultural, or scientific, which represent a fundamental pillar for building a common and prosperous future for the two friendly countries.

Al Raya confirmed that the second session of the strategic dialogue between the two countries represents a pivotal point in the history of relations between the two countries, and a new phase towards deep and solid strategic integration, based on mutual trust, aligned interests, and a shared vision for a secure and prosperous future.
