Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, on Wednesday issued a heartfelt appeal to patriarchs, bishops, general heads, and regional leaders of Catholic councils in Lebanon. The Patriarch’s call came following discussions with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican.
“We have decided to issue this call: Let prayers be held in all our churches in Lebanon, patriarchal lands, and countries of dispersion on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday, June 29th and 30th. These prayers are aimed at ending the wars in Gaza and Southern Lebanon and establishing a just and comprehensive peace in both regions,” stated Patriarch Al-Rahi.
