Doha: The West Asia Table Tennis Club Championship, held at the Abdullah bin Suhaim Hall of the Qatar SC, concluded on Saturday after four days of intense competition. Featuring 12 men’s teams and five women’s teams, the tournament showcased the best of table tennis talent in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament’s final day was marked by a gripping men’s final, where Al-Ittihad Club from Saudi Arabia emerged victorious, defeating Bahrain SC 3-1 to clinch the title. Saar SC from Bahrain secured third place, sharing the bronze medal with Qatar SC.
The awards ceremony was graced by the presence of Khalil Al Muhannadi, President of the Qatar, Arab, and Asian Table Tennis Federations, and HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Suhaim Al-Thani, President of Qatar SC. They awarded the championship trophy to Al-Ittihad Club, while Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, Secretary General of the Qatar Table Tennis Federation, and Thani Al Zar’a, a member of the board of directors for both the Qatar and West Asi
a Table Tennis Federations, distributed the silver medal to Bahrain SC and bronze medals to Qatar SC and Saar SC.
In the women’s competition, Kuwait’s Al-Fatat SC dominated by claiming the title with 8 points, achieving four victories. The Orthodox Club of Jordan followed closely, earning the silver medal with 7 points from three wins and one loss. Qatar SC and Al Arabi SC both secured third place, each taking home a bronze medal. Al Orooba Club finished fifth with 4 points.
Ahmed Khalil Al Muhannadi, Secretary-General of the West Asia Table Tennis Federation and Tournament Director, expressed his satisfaction with the competition’s high technical and organizational standards.
