Al-Faisal Publishing House Inaugurated to Preserve Heritage, Enrich Cultural Scene in Qatar

Doha: Al-Faisal Publishing House was officially inaugurated Monday, aiming to document the historical memory of the State of Qatar and enhance its cognitive presence, with the attendance of several thinkers and intellectuals.

According to Qatar News Agency, Chairman of Al-Faisal Publishing House HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani stated that the inauguration aligns with efforts by official authorities and the Ministry of Culture to spread knowledge and document history and heritage, emphasizing the importance of historical and cognitive documentation for future generations. He highlighted the objective of providing reliable content based on scientific foundations and translating publications to reach a broader audience.

The first publications will embody this vision by focusing on topics that document heritage and history from unconventional angles. Sheikh Faisal expressed hope that Al-Faisal Publishing House will become a leading national institution at regional and international levels, contributing to knowledge dissemination about Qatar and its relations with the Arab and international world, particularly in heritage and historical documentation. He stressed the importance of accuracy, credibility, and in-depth content that reflects scientific research and investigation.

HE Sheikh Faisal added that the publishing house believes in knowledge based on accurate research and reliable sources as a fundamental pillar for understanding the past and anticipating the future. The first editions are expected to reflect its vision of highlighting heritage issues through historical documentation, in cooperation with the Al-Faisal Foundation for Culture and Knowledge, which provides reliable scientific sources and academic references.

The initial publications include a book on falconry, highlighting its status in Qatari and Gulf culture and its transformation from a livelihood means to a heritage sport and elite hobby. This book documents, through over 100 photographic journeys, the authenticity of falconry heritage and arts, along with real scenes and stories of challenges and adventures in Qatar's wilderness and globally.

Additionally, the publications feature a book titled "Historian Without a Pen," which explores the significance of heritage carpets as visual documents narrating history before the camera's invention. The carpets' threads, knots, and engravings reflect heritage stories and historical events, immortalized across generations.
