Doha: HE President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA), and President of the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Hamad bin Nasser Al Misnad emphasized the necessity for anti-corruption agencies to collaborate through practical, fast, and secure platforms for exchanging information to effectively combat transnational corruption.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the opening session of the Global Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Operations Network (GLoBE Network) meeting, held alongside the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, His Excellency highlighted the challenges posed by transnational corruption. He noted that perpetrators exploit legal loopholes and weak international cooperation to evade accountability, underscoring the importance of the GLoBE Network in connecting competent authorities and providing tools to support investigations.
His Excellency mentioned that the GLoBE Network meeting aims to promote practical cooperation between law enforcement agencies in combating corruption. He explained that participants' commitment to attending these sessions reflects a collective dedication to turning policy into action.
He further detailed that the GLoBE Network Day's program focuses on transforming data into strategic visions and proactive data use to anticipate corruption risks. His Excellency emphasized that relying on existing databases and cross-border information could help detect suspicious behavior early, transforming disparate data into a shared strategic vision.
Highlighting the significance of information technology, His Excellency stressed the role of secure digital systems and instant communication tools in expediting investigations. He also noted the importance of building national capacities and developing regulatory frameworks to ensure effective cooperation while respecting national sovereignty.
The ACTA President expressed interest in the GLoBE Network's role in fostering international and regional partnerships to combat corruption. He emphasized that real change requires mechanisms for follow-up, readiness to share successful experiences, and collective action to address challenges.
His Excellency hoped that discussions during the day would enhance the use of the GLoBE Network as a critical tool for anti-corruption agencies, aspiring to establish it as a leading global platform. He reaffirmed ACTA's commitment to collaborating with the United Nations and network member states to enhance its impact in uncovering corruption cases.
In his remarks, GLoBE Network President Dr. Nasser Abaalkhail highlighted the importance of timely information exchange. He reiterated that transnational corruption necessitates cooperation among anti-corruption agencies to share vital information effectively.
