7th ‘My Career – My Future’ Program Commences, Featuring 250 Students

Doha: Organized by the Qatar Foundation (QF)-founded, Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), the 7th edition of the 'My Career - My Future' program kicked off on Sunday, with the participation of more than 250 high school students from schools across Qatar to experience job-shadowing placements in 25 public and private sector entities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event was held at Multaqa (Education City Student Center), where high school students and participating entity representatives were briefed on the program's agenda and activities. They received a detailed explanation about the immersive career exploration experience designed to provide them with real-world insights into various professions.

Executive Director of QCDC, Saad Abdulla Al Kharji, in his opening speech, highlighted the success and growth of the program since its inception seven years ago. He emphasized the program's role in opening a window to the future for the youth, allowing them to see their career aspirations realized through practical experience.

Al Kharji added that a week in the program is sufficient to expose students to workplace realities and boost their confidence. He noted the positive impact of previous editions, as evidenced by the transformation in students' perspectives and maturity upon returning from their training sites.

The program's objective is to provide high school students in grades 10, 11, and 12 with opportunities to experience professional environments and interact with seasoned professionals. This exposure helps students gain a better understanding of different professions, aiding them in making informed academic and career decisions that align with their aspirations and abilities.

In the coming days, students will engage in structured job shadowing placements across various national sectors, including Medicine, Aviation, Media and Communications, Telecommunications, Business, Financial Services, Judiciary, Tourism, Sport Management, Engineering, Technology, Humanitarian and Social Work, among other fields integral to Qatar's sustainable development.
