Tripoli: Libyan police arrested 77 illegal immigrants of various African nationalities on Thursday. The police stated in a press release that the immigrants were apprehended in the town of Ash-Shuwayrif, southwest of Tripoli. They added that the immigrants were transferred to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency for deportation.
According to Qatar News Agency, last August, the Libyan Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency announced the arrest of 350 illegal immigrants of various nationalities during a large-scale security operation conducted in the Tobruk municipality. Libya is a transit point for irregular migrants seeking to reach Europe.
