Doha: Six people are missing after a fishing boat caught fire in waters off southwestern South Korea. A 34-ton fishing boat caught fire in waters off the coast of Buan County, about 200 kilometers southwest of the capital Seoul, the Korean Coast Guard announced Thursday morning.
According to Qatar News Agency, six people are missing after a fishing boat with 11 people on board caught fire in waters off the southwestern coast on Thursday. The Coast Guard stated that five people were rescued.
Among the victims were 11 people on board the ill-fated boat; five were rescued, and six others remain missing. The Coast Guard mobilized 10 ships to the scene and rescued five of the crew members with the help of nearby fishing boats.
The search for the missing continues despite warnings of high waves in nearby waters.
