6.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Philippines

Samar: An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck Samar, Philippines, on Monday. The quake hit at a depth of 73.3 kilometers, the US Geological Survey reported.

According to Qatar News Agency, no casualties or damage have been reported so far. The Philippines is experiencing increasing volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire,' where tectonic plates intersect.

In October 2013, a major earthquake measuring 7.1 magnitude struck the Philippines, killing more than 220 people.
